Flight of Icarus

Flight of Icarus - Behind the Lyrics

Conseguiram escapar do labirinto.

Music

A banda britânica Iron Maiden faz a versão em música, em 1983 Flight of Icarus, do álbum Piece of Mind.

Flight of Icarus

(Voo de Ícaro)

As the sun breaks, above the ground

(Enquanto surge o Sol, sobre o chão)

An old man stands on the hill

(Um velho está na montanha)

As the ground warms, to the first rays of light

A birdsong shatters the still

His eyes are ablaze

(Seus olhos estão ávidos)

See the madman in his gaze

(Veja o olhar do louco)

Fly, on your way, like an eagle

(Voe, ao seu destino, como uma águia)

Fly as high as the Sun

(Voe tão alto quanto o Sol)

On your way, like an eagle

(Ao seu destino, como uma águia)

Fly and touch the Sun

(Voe e toque o Sol)

Now the crowd breaks

(Agora a multidão surge)

And a young boy appears

(E um jovem aparece)

Looks the old man in the eye

(Encara o velho nos olhos)

As he spreads his wings and shouts at the crowd

(Enquanto abre suas asas, grita pra multidão)

In the name of God my father I fly

(Em nome de Deus, meu pai, eu voo)

His eyes seem so glazed

(Seus olhos parecem tão obstinados)

As he flies on the wings of a dream

Now he knows his father betrayed

Now his wings turn to ashes to ashes his grave

Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saëns/ Music and Poem

Saint-Saëns - Biografia

Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns pertence ao período do Romantismo.

Danse Macabre

Zig, Zig, Zig, Death in cadence,
Striking a tomb with his heel,
Death at midnight plays a dance-tune,
Zig, Zig, Zag, on his violin.
The winter wind blows, and the night is dark;
Moans are heard in the linden trees.
White skeletons pass through the gloom,
Running and leaping in their shrouds.
Zig, Zig, Zig, each one is frisking,
You can hear the cracking of the bones of the dancers.
A lustful couple sits on the moss
So as to taste long lost delights.
Zig, Zig, Zig, Death continues
The unending scraping on his instrument.
A veil has fallen! The dancer is naked.
Her partner grasps her amorously.
The lady, it´s said, is a marchioness or baroness
And her green gallant, a poor cartwright.
Horror! Look how she gives herself to him.
Like the rustic was a baron.
Zig, Zig, Zig. What a saraband!
They all hold hands and dance in circles.
Zig, zig, zag. You can see in the crowd
The kind dancing among the peasants.
But hist! All of a sudden, they leave the dance,
They push forward, they fly: the cock has crowed.
Oh, what a beautiful night for the poor world!
Long live death and equality!
